Doormat, a Toronto, Ontario, Canada-based law service company for real estate transactions, announced its rebrand to Ownright and raised $4.5M CAD in Seed funding.

The round was led by Alate and Relay Ventures, bringing its total capital raised to $6.5M CAD.

The company intends to use the funds to expand operations and its development efforts.

Launched in 2023 by Robert Saunders, Joel Fox, and Benjamin Berry, Ownright provides a law service for real estate transactions, designed to improve home transactions through automation, expert legal guidance, and a client-first approach.

Key services include:

  • Property Closings: it streamlines property closings for home buyers and sellers with a clear, step-by-step process, real-time tracking, and instant access to legal experts.
  • Mortgage Refinancing: it simplifies mortgage refinancing for homeowners with fast processing, transparent pricing, and expert legal support.
  • Status Certificate Reviews: it provides thorough, fast-turnaround status certificate reviews for condo buyers.

The company has processed over $750 million in transaction value and is on track to surpass the $1 billion milestone by the end of 2025.
