Genvax Technologies Closes Series Seed Plus Round

Genvax Technologies, an Ames, IA-based startup dedicated to bringing advances in RNA vaccine production to animal health, raised an undisclosed amount in Series Seed Plus funding.

The round was led by United Animal Health.

The company intends to use the funds to accelerate its path toward USDA approval of its vaccines, enabling rapid response to foreign animal disease outbreaks and improving livestock health and profitability.

Led by CEO Joel Harris, Genvax provides a proprietary RNA platform that enables the rapid development of herd- or flock-specific vaccines matched precisely to the variant strain circulating in animal production operations. By inserting a specific transgene or “gene of interest” (GOI) matched to the variant strain into the platform, the RNA generates an antibody response without requiring the whole pathogen.

In addition, the company added Dr. Lucas Huntimer as Chief Scientific Officer.
