Metafuels, a Zurich, Switzerland-based developer of technology for sustainable aviation fuel compatible with existing aircrafts, raised $9M in funding.
The round was led by Celsius Industries, with participation from RockCreek, Fortescue Ventures, Verve Ventures, with existing investors Energy Impact Partners (EIP) and Contrarian Ventures.
The company intends to use the funds to expand operations and its development efforts.
Led by CEO Saurabh Kapoor, Metafuels is an aviation tech startup, focused on the development and deployment of proprietary sustainable fuel technologies, with an initial focus on synthetic aviation fuel. It intends to develop and bring to market sustainable aviation fuels which do not require a reengineering or re-purchasing of existing aircraft, or aviation logistics infrastructure.
This round follows an $8M raise in early 2023, as well as a $5M grant from the Swiss Federal Office of Energy – taking total funding to $22M.
