Addis Energy, a Cambridge, MA-based provider of a technology platform that harnesses the Earth’s chemical and thermal potential for clean ammonia production, raised $4.25M in Pre-Seed funding.
The round, which brought the total amount to $8.75M, saw participation from Engine Ventures, Pillar VC and Voyager Ventures.
The company intends to use the funds to expand its research and development team, and identify potential pilot program locations across the U.S.
Led by CEO Michael Alexander, Addis Energy provides technology that involves the injection of nitrogen and water into iron-rich rocks, using in-situ subsurface heat and pressure to produce geologic ammonia via a carbon-free and net energy-positive process.
