Sonair, an Oslo, Norway-based deep tech startup, raised $1.6M in funding.
The round was led by Skyfall Ventures with participation from RunwayFBU.
Founded in 2022 by an experienced team of serial entrepreneurs led by Knut Sandven, former CEO of GasSecure, Sonair is a deep tech startup building a patented 3D ultrasonic sensor that enables machine autonomy by making robots safe, affordable, and efficient.
The company was spun out from a leading European independent research organization, SINTEF, to exploit deep science-to-tech advancements in ultrasonics and Micro-ElectroMechanical Systems (MEMS). Using this technology, the company is delivering a sensor that aims to transform a robot’s vision from 2D to 3D, offering an improved safety performance over traditional vision systems while cutting costs by 50-80%.
The investment introduces a new category of sensors that will transform a mobile robot’s spatial awareness from 2D to 3D, offering an improved safety performance over traditional vision systems while cutting costs by 50-80%. The company’s Early Access Program now counts AMR manufacturers, automakers, and distributors from across the world.
Sonair is leveraging the new funding round to introduce its global early access program with an evaluation kit that has quickly been adopted by a wide range of warehouse AMR manufacturers, automotive OEMs, health- and cleaning robotics companies.
