Moondream, a San Francisco, CA-based maker of an open-source vision-language model to incorporate AI into applications, raised $4.5M in Pre-Seed funding.
The round was led by Felicis, alongside the M12 GitHub Fund and Ascend.
The company intends to use the funds to accelerate product growth, expand the team, and keep up with demand from the companies participating in Moondream’s upcoming Moondream Cloud Service.
Founded by Jay Allen (CEO) and Vik Korrapati (CTO), Moondream allows developers to incorporate AI into their applications. Its flagship product, Moondream, is an open-source vision-language model with under 2 billion parameters for developing multimodal apps that can run anywhere. With more than 2 million downloads in July and 4,800 GitHub stars, it’s already used by many popular app developers, such as fal.ai, sievedata.ai, and Open Interpreter.
The company is dedicated to creating AI tools for practical implementation today, focusing on empowering developers with efficient solutions.
