Blue Energy, a Washington, DC-based nuclear power plant company, raised $45M in Series A funding.
The round was led by Engine Ventures and At One Ventures, with participation from Angular Ventures, Tamarack Global, Propeller Ventures, Starlight Ventures, and Nucleation Capital.
The company intends to use the funds to advance its core engineering work and site development, and secure additional partners.
Founded in 2023 by Jake Jurewicz and Matt Slotkin, Blue Energy builds modular nuclear power plants in shipyards, to reduce construction time. Its plant design is reactor agnostic and can quickly deploy affordable, zero-emissions baseload electricity at a price that is competitive with fossil fuels and renewables. By partnering with reactor vendors, Blue Energy can leverage existing regulatory progress to further accelerate the time to market for their modular nuclear power plant.
