Relocalize, a Montreal, Quebec, Canada-based cleantech startup, raised $5.8M in Seed funding.

Backers included Desjardins Capital, i4 Capital, Waterpoint Lane, and RGS Ice.

The company intends to use the funds to to double its engineering team and scale up its autonomous microfactory platform.

Led by CEO D. Wayne McIntyre, Relocalize is advancing autonomous production platforms, strategically positioned in retailer distribution centers, to enable traditional food and beverage industry players to eliminate unnecessary transportation and associated emissions.

Commenting on the news, D. Wayne McIntyre said: “Bringing on a capital partner like Desjardins Capital at the seed stage gives our vision for a truck-free future for manufactured foods a huge boost. We’ll be moving quickly to scale up deployments of our first-to-world micro-factories with grocery retailers.”
