Vivid Machines Closes $4.3M USD in Seed Funding

Vivid Machines, a Toronto, Canada-based developer of computer vision technology for fruit crop, raised USD$4.3M in Seed funding.

The round was led by BDC Capital Thrive Venture Fund, with StandUp Ventures, Algoma Orchards, Tall Grass Ventures, Entrepreneur First, BoxOne Ventures, Conexus Venture Capital (Emmertech), the W Fund, Cornell, Freycinet Ventures, N49P and MaRS IAF.

The company intends to use the funds to accelerate development of additional system applications and expansion into more fruit crops.

Founded in 2020 by Jenny Lemieux, CEO, and Jonathan Binas, CTO, Vivid Machines has developed a real-time spectral sensor and computer vision system to provide insights to growers, pack houses, and fruit marketers. Its XV system mounts on farm equipment, capturing plant-level data below the canopy across production, and providing fruit-level data to optimize the fruit supply chain.
