Melodie, a Sydney, Australia-based music licensing platform, raised A$1m in new funding at a $15m valuation.

The round included follow-on investments from early Atlassian employee and Code Barrel founder Nick Menere, and the co-owner of The Drop Festival, Peter Strain.

The company intends to use the funds to further accelerate growth in its three core segments – B2C, B2B, B2B2C – with a particular focus on growing Melodie’s footprint in the US market.

Led by Evan Buist, Managing Director, Melodie provides tech-enabled music licensing solutions that cover the creator economy, film & TV sync, and more recently UGC-centric creative technology platforms with users – as seen in Breakout Clips, Creatopy and Pictory – all integrating directly via an API, which now receives more than 2 million search and download calls each day.
