Amorai Raises Pre-Seed Funding

Amorai, a San Francisco, CA-based health and wellbeing company, raised an undisclosed amount in Pre-Seed funding.

The round was led by AI Fund with Andrew Ng joining Amorai’s board. Backers also included angel investors such as Megan Jones Bell, Jim Lanzone, Eileen Burbidge, André Heinz, Peter Rojas, Balance Pilot Capital and Joe Zadeh.

The company intends to use the funds to expand operations and its business reach.

Led by CEO and Founder Renate Nyborg, Amorai provides an AI relationship coaching app targeting young adults from 18-30 years old. It offers personalized coaching exercises, primarily crafted and curated for Gen Z. Structured as a vertical AI product, the app builds on LLM (large language model) technology, has a subscription business model, and is designed to be private, safe and secure. The app will launch exclusively on iOS, leveraging Apple’s native health features and privacy standards.

Nyborg is the former Chief Executive Officer of Tinder, the world’s most popular dating app and the biggest non-gaming app by revenue. She initially joined Tinder as General Manager EMEA. Her career spans the leadership of international Product & Marketing at mental health app Headspace, as well as leading the App Store subscription business in Europe for Apple. In her twenties she founded a mobile app studio named Pleo, and also ran Mobile globally for comms & digital agency Edelman.

Nyborg is of Norwegian and Dutch origin and has worked in California, England, Sweden, France and Switzerland. She is a Philosophy graduate of Cambridge University.
