Zed Raises $10M in Series A Funding

Zed Industries

Zed Industries, a San Francisco CA-based creator of a multiplayer code editor, raised $10M in Series A funding.

The round, which brought total funding raised to date to $12.5M, was led by Redpoint Ventures, with participation from Root Ventures and angel investors including Dylan Field of Figma, Tom Preston Werner of GitHub, Spencer Kimball of CockroachDB, and Rahul Vohra and Todd Goldberg.

The company intends to use the funds to scale its operations and build the team as it continues to iterate on its product.

Led by CEO Nathan Sobo, Max Brunsfeld, and Antonio Scandurra, Zed provides a multiplayer code editor that allows multiple developers to navigate and edit within a shared workspace, making it easy to have nuanced conversations directly within the editor about any part of a codebase, whether the code in question was committed last year or hasn’t yet been saved to a disk. By controlling the full code-authoring experience, the company also allows collaboration to operate at the granularity of individual keystrokes.

The company is also launching Zed, its code editor built to treat collaboration as a first-class concern, into beta after an alpha development phase.
