Horizon Quantum Computing

Horizon Quantum Computing, a Singapore-based company building software development tools, raised USD 18.1M in Series A funding.

The round, which brought the total amount to USD 21.3M, was led by Sequoia Capital India, Tencent, SGInnovate, Pappas Capital and Expeditions Fund.

The company intends to use the funds to accelerate growth, to strengthen its science and engineering teams to accelerate product development, establish its new engineering centre in Europe and bring its technology to the market.

Founded by CEO Dr Joe Fitzsimons in 2018, Horizon Quantum Computing is developing programming tools to simplify and expedite the process of developing software for quantum computers. By removing the need for prior quantum computing experience to develop applications for quantum hardware, its tools will make quantum computing accessible to software developer.

Horizon has already reached key milestones in its technology development, demonstrating advanced compilation techniques, algorithm synthesis and rapid device characterisation. Last year, the company also joined Singapore’s National Quantum-Safe Network.
