Vault, a New York-based provider of a Digital Music Collectible (DMC) format, raised $4M in Series A funding.

The round, which brings total funding to $13M, was led by Placeholder VC, with participation from existing investors AlleyCorp, Bullpen Capital, and Everblue Management.

The company intends to use the funds to further scale its DMC format, and accelerate the launch of its protocol.

Led by Nigel Eccles, Vault is the creator of the mobile-friendly Digital Music Collectible (DMC) music format and its protocol, an open and fully decentralized network for purchasing, playing, and sharing music on third-party apps and websites. It offers music fans authenticated, instantly unlockable digital box sets and experiences from their favorite musicians. DMCs are designed to be the digital version of a box set giving music fans media experiences that can be purchased, unlocked, and played right on your phone.
