Kelpi, a Bath, UK-based sustainable materials innovation company, raised £3M in Seed funding.
The round was led by Science Creates Ventures and Green Angel Syndicate, with funding from One Planet Capital and follow-on investment from Bristol Private Equity Club (BPEC), together with private angel investors. The round includes £665K of grant funding from Innovate UK’s Combined Investor Partnership.
The company intends to use the funds to Kelpi will use the funds to conduct manufacturing pilots for their proprietary coatings for paper and card.
Led by CEO and co-founder Neil Morris and Chief Scientific Officer Dr Stefanie Federle, Kelpi is a sustainable materials innovation business – harnessing the properties of seaweed to create compostable, marine-safe, low-carbon bioplastic packaging.
The company is already working with global leaders in food & drink and cosmetics.
