Carry1st Raises $27M in Funding

Carry1st

Carry1st, a Cape Town, South Africa-based mobile games publisher, raised $27M in funding.

The round was led by BITKRAFT Ventures, with participation from Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), TTV Capital, Alumni Ventures, Lateral Capital, Kepple Ventures, and Konvoy.

The company intends to use the funds to develop, license, and publish new games as well as further expand Pay1st, the company’s monetization-as-a-service solution.

Led by CEO Cordel Robbin-Coker, Carry1st develops, licenses, and publishes games and monetizes them effectively with Pay1st, a proprietary payments and online marketplace to monetize content in the region. The company has scaled games such as Call of Duty®: Mobile, Mine Rescue, and SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off. In 2022, they signed a partnership with Riot Games, the developer and publisher behind League of Legends — the most-played PC game in the world — as well as other titles like VALORANT, Teamfight Tactics, Legends of Runeterra, and League of Legends: Wild Rift.
