Calimero Network, a London, UK-based secure private shard infrastructure company, raised $8.5M in Seed funding.

The round was led by Khosla Ventures, Lyrik Ventures and the Near foundation, with participation from GSR, FJ Labs and Warburg Serres.

The company intends to use the funds to expand the team and its business reach.

Led by Sandi Fatic and Mario Halambek, Calimero provides a SaaS secure private shard infrastructure that lets developers protect their data while leveraging all the business benefits of open-source blockchains. The system enables users to develop, test and deploy their private shard in minutes. Offering a tech stack of console (interface), bridge (to communicate between private shards and a public network), privacy features to protect the data on the permissioned private network, and a gas cost reduction, Calimero enables users to connect to private or public blockchain applications like DeFi, NFTs, on-chain KYC, and more, without any compromise on confidentiality and privacy, and control who has the access to which data. It also is interoperable with other enterprises, shards, and public blockchain.

Spun-out of the Near protocol, Calimero is currently in closed alpha.
