Aerones, a Riga, Latvia-based leader in robot-enabled wind turbine maintenance and inspection, raised $30M in funding.

The round was led by Lightrock and Haniel, with participation from Blume Equity, Change Ventures, Metaplanet and Mantas Mikuckas.

The company intends to use the funds to grow its technical and sales functions, increase the number of robot service teams, and expand into new markets.

Led by CEO Dainis Kruze, Aerones is a company providing robot-enabled wind turbine maintenance and inspections services. Starting in 2019 with basic inspection services, its patented modular robotic solution now enables the company to provide a full suite of inspection (external visual, internal blade, lighting protection, ultrasound), maintenance (painting, ice-phobic coating, blade and tower cleaning) and repair (leading edge) services. Today, Aerones serves customers that represent 50 per cent of the world’s wind power capacity, including leading operators such as NextEra, GE, Vestas, Enel and Siemens Gamesa. The company maintains a European headquarters in Riga, Latvia, and a North American headquarters in San Jose, USA.
