3Bee, a Fino Mornasco, Como, Italy-based data-collecting and impact sustainability solutions company, raised €5M in Series A funding.
The round was led by Ag funder Grow impact fund, Anya Capital, and ESA.
The company intends to use the funds to expand further around the EU, multiple its impact capacity, from 1 Billion protected pollinators in 2022 to 10 Billion in 2023.
Founded in 2017 by Niccolò Calandri and Riccardo Balzaretti, 3Bee has developed:
- HiveTech, a 4.0 beehive consisting of IoT sensors which monitor bees’ health and allow beekeepers to reduce treatments as well as visits to the apiary. Using this technology, the beekeeper can reduce the bee mortality rate and optimize the pollination.
- BioScan, an automatic pollinator counting system that uses artificial intelligence to recognize wild pollinator types.
- Terra, a neural network system which analyzes vegetation biodiversity over 3 European states, in collaboration with ESA.
Since its foundation, the company has developed a network of over 5,000 beekeepers, farmers and companies. 3Bee now has 42 employees.
