Next Play Capital Closes Fund III, at $200M

Next Play Capital, a Redwood City, CA-based minority-owned venture investment firm focused on investing in access-constrained venture funds and venture-backed companies, closed its third flagship fund, at $200m.

Fund III adds 11 new institutional limited partners (LPs) who embody the values that reflect Next Play Capital’s diverse LP community.

The fund will invest in high-level funds and venture-backed companies across sectors, stages, and geographies.

Led by Managing Partner Ryan Nece, Next Play Capital is a venture investment platform focused on investing in access-constrained funds and venture-backed companies across consumer, fintech, and IT/SaaS verticals. With $425 million in assets under management, its community of professional athletes, GPs, entrepreneurs, CEOs, and investors provides an ecosystem to access funds and companies that are generally inaccessible to most investors. The firm’s diversified flagship structure is complemented by direct investment strategies via one dedicated fund and 24 special purpose vehicles (SPVs) to date.

Since its formation in 2014, Next Play Capital has invested with 34 general partners (GPs) and 54 companies.
