Carbon, a Redwood City, CA-based 3D printing technology company, acquired ParaMatters, an Irvine, CA-based provider of a software platform for additive manufacturing.

The amount of the deal was not disclosed.

This acquisition expands Carbon’s current software capabilities to include topology optimization. Its technology platform now broadens to enable product design and development teams to create products in less time using a wide variety of materials and production systems.

Led by CEO Robert Yusin, ParaMatters is a fully autonomous and intuitive generative design and simulation platform that optimizes the most labour intensive stages in the digital workflow from design to manufacturing.

Carbon is a 3D printing technology company enabling businesses to develop products and bring them to market quickly.
