Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) is to acquire iRobot (NASDAQ: IRBT), a Bedford, Massachusetts-based maker of innovative cleaning products for the home.
Amazon will acquire iRobot for $61 per share in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $1.7 billion, including iRobot’s net debt.
Completion of the transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including approval by iRobot’s shareholders and regulatory approvals. On completion, Colin Angle will remain as CEO of iRobot.
iRobot is a global consumer robot company that designs and builds robots and intelligent home innovations. iRobot introduced the first Roomba robot vacuum in 2002 and now has sold millions of robots worldwide. Its product portfolio features technologies and advanced concepts in cleaning, mapping and navigation.
