Sensel Raises $18.8M In Series B Funding

Sensel

Sensel, a Sunnyale, CA-based provider of a building touch-sensing, force-sensing, and haptics technologies, raised $18.8M in Series B funding.

The round was led by Global Lighting Technologies Inc (GLT), joined by Lenovo, who has been a strategic customer and is now an investor as well.

The company, which has raised over $57m since it was founded in 2013, intends to use the funds to develop programmable smart surface solutions that advance industrial design, enable thinner form factors, and elevate user experience for touch-enabled devices.

Led by CEO Ilya Rosenberg and Chief Product and Strategy Officer Harsha Rao, Sensel is building interactive touch technologies to innovate how people physically communicate with the digital world. The architecture integrates touch-sensing, force-sensing, and haptics into a single solution, enabling enterprise customers to create thinner form factors, advanced industrial designs, and exceptional customer experiences. Today, Sensel is integrating sensors and haptics into trackpads, automotive interfaces, mobile phones, and other products that require human touch interaction.

Following the completion of Sensel’s $28m Series A in 2020, the company achieved two major milestones:

  1. Shipping haptic touchpads in its first two OEM laptops with the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga and a second major PC manufacturer.
  2. Rounding out its touch-sensing and force-sensing IP with an innovative haptics solution.

The partnership with GLT will help Sensel innovate and scale their haptic touchpad solutions to a wider breadth of PC models.
