Supabase

Supabase, a Pleasanton, Calif.-based open-source Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) company, raised $80 million in Series B funding.

The round, which brings total capital raised to $116m, was led by Felicis, with participation from existing investors Coatue and Lightspeed.

The company intends to use the funds to:

  • continue its focus on innovation, and
  • double the size of its team

Co-founded by Paul Copplestone and Ant Wilson, Supabase is building an open-source Database-as-a-Service platform to help developers build their applications without repeating the same tasks. Developers use it to manage their application’s database, authentication, storage, and edge functions.

In recent months, the community surpassed 80,000 developers, with many signups from cloud-native, enterprise and Fortune 500 companies. Hosted databases have grown 1900% in 12 months, with over 100,000 databases created.

Supabase is a standout company from YC’s Summer 2020 class.
