Labster

Labster, a Copenhagen, Denmark and Boston, MA-based provider of a platform for virtual labs and interactive science, raised $47M in additional funding.

The round, which brings total funding raised to date to $147m, was led by Sofina Group and Pirate Impact, with participation from Owl Ventures, Andreessen Horowitz, EduCapital, NPF Technologies, and GGV Capital. They are joining the Series C round announced in 2021 led by Andreessen Horowitz. Additional investors included Balderton Capital, Northzone, Swisscom Ventures, and David Helgason, founder of Unity Technologies.

The company intends to use the funds to further develop in Europe and the United States and to establish itself within Asia and Latin America. In addition to expanding into new geographic regions, Labster is now hiring across all major teams including engineering, product, sales, and customer success.

Led by Michael Bodekaer Jensen, CEO, and Mads Tvillinggaard Bonde, co-founder and executive chairman, Labster is dedicated to developing fully interactive virtual training simulations that are designed to enhance traditional learning outcomes by stimulating students’ natural curiosity and reinforcing the connection between science and the real world. The simulations can be used in a variety of different ways, from a full lab replacement to a supplemental learning activity. Labster’s team of 350-plus employees supports over 3,000 universities and high schools, tens of thousands of courses, and millions of students every year. Throughout 70-plus countries, the platform is delivered on a digital platform that provides seamless access, implementation, and integration with other systems for users.
