DrugBank, an Edmonton, Canada-based provider of a drug knowledge platform secured $9M in seed funding.
The round was led by Brightspark Ventures with participation from Amplitude Ventures, Theodorus Investment Funds and existing investors including AccelerateFund and Milad Alucozai from BoxOne Ventures.
The company intends to use the funds to continue to scale its operations and invest in research and development.
Led by Mike Wilson, CEO, and Craig Knox, CTO, DrugBank provides an intelligent and comprehensive drug knowledge platform which utilizes artificial intelligence to enable a team of experts to gather, author, verify, and structure the latest biomedical information into one knowledge platform. The platform is accessible through DrugBank Online (their free-to-use website), and data and software integrations.
The company has over 12 million annual users, 300+ open source projects, and 26,000+ academic citations globally. Today, it is used by 13 of the world’s top 20 pharmaceutical companies.
