Yaba, a Barcelona, Spain-based Amazon brand aggregator in Southern Europe, raised $85M in Series A equity and debt funding.

The round was led by Crossbeam Venture Partners, and Tikehau Capital with participation from 10x Founders, Bonsai Partners, Aldea Ventures, JME, Inveready, as well as prominent family offices from France, Italy, and Spain.

The company intends to use the funds to acquire new companies, as well as to expand its team and strengthen marketing & operations.

Founded in 2020 by Alejandro Fresneda, David Baratech, Rubén Ferreiro, Sergi de Pablos, and Patxi Archanco, Yaba is a company dedicated to buying and scaling companies with potential within the Amazon universe. The company’s objective is to increase the sales of the acquired companies by improving their sourcing as well as their presence in the main marketplaces, among other growth levers. The companies acquired are sorted into different verticals, among which are household products, beauty, baby care, sports and pet care. Since its launch, Yaba has acquired 12 brands, generating a turnover of more than $20m. These include Banbaloo, a brand of bed guards for infants, and Superscandi, a Swedish brand of eco-friendly wiping cloths.

The company plans to promote some of its brands in international marketplaces beyond Amazon, such as Lazada, Shopee and Mercado Libre, among others, as well as to enter the offline channel. The company, which has a team of 40 members in Spain, Italy, France, and Mexico, professionalises the management of the acquired brands with the aim of accelerating their growth and increasing their efficiency both on Amazon and on other marketplaces. The added value that Yaba brings to the acquired sellers is based on improved stock management, optimised sourcing, professionalisation, and increased investment in the branding, marketing and positioning of the companies (improved positioning of their brands in Amazon search results), as well as higher product quality and improved packaging and international distribution (the opening of other international channels).
