MyPlace, a NYC-based social network that helps friends share their homes, secured $5.8m in seed funding.

The round was led by Freestyle with participation from Haystack, Oceans, and OnDeck, as well as notable angel investors from Tesla, Facebook, and PayPal. 

The company intends to use the funds to launch their iOS app, continue to actively market their network, building awareness around the world.

Originally launched by entrepreneurs Zach Bell and Rameet Chawla, MyPlace is a social network that connects friends who are looking to share their homes with people they trust. The MyPlace beta platform encourages building a community of like-minded travelers across the globe who share their places within a trusted network. It has a running community of over 3,000 community members, who are sharing their homes in over 86 cities.
