AssemblyAI, a San Francisco, CA-based audio intelligence API platform, raised $28M in funding.
The round was led by Accel with participation from Y Combinator, John and Patrick Collison (Stripe), Nat Friedman (GitHub), and Daniel Gross (Pioneer).
The company intends to use the funds to accelerate the development of advanced AI models for automatic speech recognition, speech understanding, and nlp.
Led by Dylan Fox, Founder & CEO, AssemblyAI provides a Speech-to-Text APIs to quickly, automatically, and accurately convert audio data within their applications into text – powering a wide variety of use cases.
Beyond just transcription, the company’s Audio Intelligence APIs have been used by customers for content moderation, emotion detection, summarization, PII redaction, and more. These APIs are being used to moderate user generated audio content at scale, deliver insights to customer support and contact center agents in call center AI products, serve more targeted ad campaigns into audio content, summarize Zoom meetings, and to power a number of other exciting use cases.
Dozens of startups and a number of Fortune 500s, like NBC and Dow Jones, have leveraged the APIs to power mission critical products and features at scale.
