Aktiia Raises $17.5M in Series A Funding

Aktiia, a Neuchatel, Switzerland-based developer of a wearable blood-pressure monitoring system, raised $17.5M in Series A funding.

The round was led by UK-based Draper Esprit and included Redalpine, 415 Capital, Verve Ventures and US-Based Translink Capital.

The company intends to use the funds to expand its commercial presence in Europe and within the healthcare sector, and to obtain FDA clearance, ensuring further US expansion for the technology.

Co-founded by Mattia Bertschi and Josep Solà and led by Mike Kisch, CEO, Aktiia provides a continuous Optical Blood Pressure Monitoring System which collects user blood pressure data while worn on wrists. This data provides patients and doctors insights for the diagnosis and treatment of hypertension, the leading global cause of premature adult deaths.

After receiving the CE mark, the company is currently experiencing accelerated sales growth across Europe, including the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France and Italy.
