WeRoad, a Milan, Italy-based adventure travel startup, raised €13.5m in equity, convertible and debt funding.
The round included €4m raised via crowdinvesting with participation from 100 clients of Intesa Sanpaolo Private Banking. The campaign was launched by BacktoWork with support from Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center. The investment was managed led by Finroad srl (led by Riccardo Schiavotto, founder of Lanieri.com).
The company intends to use the funds to continue to expand operations and its business reach internationally.
Led by Paolo De Nadai, CEO and founder, and Alessandro Zanchetton, Managing Director, WeRoad is a startup focused on long range adventure travelling. The company leverages 600 coordinators to allow travellers (over 30k to date) to reach over 190 destinations globally.
WeRoad currently operates in Italy, Spain and UK.
