Speedata Raises $55M in Series A Funding

Speedata, a Netanya, Israel-based maker of an Analytics Processing Unit (APU) designed to accelerate big data analytic workloads across industries, raised $55m in Series A funding.

The round, which brings its total amount raised to $70m, including a previously undisclosed $15m seed round led by Viola and Pitango, was led by Walden Catalyst Ventures, 83North, and Koch Disruptive Technologies (KDT), with participation from existing investors Pitango First, Viola Ventures and prominent individual investors including Eyal Waldman, Co-Founder and former CEO of Mellanox Technologies. Both Waldman and Lip-Bu Tan, Managing Partner of Walden Catalyst Ventures, Chairman, Walden International and CEO, Cadence Design, will join Speedata’s board of directors.

The company intends to use the funds to continue to expand operations and its business reach.

Founded by Jonathan Friedmann, Dan Charash, Rafi Shalom, Itai Incze, Yoav Etsion and Dani Voitsechov, Speedata has developed a dedicated accelerated processor for big data analytics across industries. Its Analytics Processing Unit (APU) was designed to optimize datacenter and cloud-based database and analytic workloads, improving performance while reducing costs, power consumption and space for cloud providers, enterprises, private datacenters, and technology providers across industries.
