Spartan Radar Raises $10M in Seed Funding

Spartan Radar

Spartan Radar, a Los Alamitos, CA-based provider of biomimetic automotive radar solutions, raised $10M in Seed funding.

The round was led by Prime Movers Lab and 8VC with participation from Mac VC, Alumni Ventures Group, Broom Ventures and Gaingels.

The company intends to use the funds to scale its engineering team, build a full-scale prototype, conduct field tests, and acquire a greater share of the more than $32 billion advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) market, which is expected to reach $142 billion by 2027, according to Precedence Research.

Founded in 2020 by CEO Nathan Mintz, Chief Revenue Officer Blake Gasca, Dr. Theagenis Abatzoglou, Dr. Joe Zhou, and Chief Technology Officer Tyler Rather, Spartan Radar provides biomimetic automotive radar solutions that improves radar performance for use in autonomous vehicles, making radar competitive with lidar, which has traditionally been used by auto manufacturers in self-driving vehicle applications. Its Biomimetic Radar mimics human perception processes for enhanced focus and context as proprietary algorithms speed up processing and reduce radar’s historic shortcomings, including lower resolution and false detections.
