Twelve Raises $57M in Series A Funding

Twelve (fka Opus 12), a Berkeley, Calif.-based carbon transformation startup, raised $57m in Series A funding.

The round was led by Capricorn Technology Impact Fund and Carbon Direct Capital Management with participation from DCVC, Munich Re Ventures, Microsoft Climate Innovation Fund, Breakout Ventures, and Evok Innovations.

Led by CEO Nicholas Flanders, CSO Dr. Etosha Cave, and Chief Technology Officer Dr. Kendra Kuhl, Twelve is a carbon transformation company which makes essential products by leveraging proprietary catalyst technology that transforms CO2 into chemicals, materials and fuels that are conventionally made from fossil fuels.

The company is currently partnering with automotive, household, apparel industry and other brands, including Mercedes-Benz, Procter & Gamble, and the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to leverage its carbon transformation technology to reduce emissions by creating CO2Made© products and fuels.

Twelve is currently taking pre-orders for its industrial-scale carbon transformation module.
