Edgehog Advanced Technologies Inc., a Montreal, Canada-based developer of a nanotextured, omni-directional, anti-reflective glass, closed a first tranche of $1.25m of its $2.5m seed funding.
The round was led by TandemLaunch, E8, and other angel investors.
Combined with non-dilutive and non-repayable funding of $3.5m, the capital supports the company’s $6m project to scale up the size of its self-cleaning solar glass and further develop and commercialize its proprietary technology.
A second closing of the seed round of up to $1.25m is expected to close within the next 60 days.
Founded in 2018 and led by Brad Gunn, CEO, and Calvin Cheng, CTO, Edgehog Advanced Technologies is commercializing an anti-reflection technology platform based on a decade of development in research institutions.
Coming out of startup foundry, TandemLaunch, and building on research originally developed in the United States’ Energy Department’s National Labs system, the company’s eluminar™ glass generates nano-sized textures which result in invisible glass and features a self-cleaning surface where water rolls off the surface.
