Starting Line, a Chicago, IL-based venture capital firm, closed its second fund, at $30m.

Starting Line is backed by institutions such as: 

  • Foundry Group, 
  • Vintage Investment Partners, 
  • Bracket Capital, 
  • 50 South Capital, and
  • Wicklow Capital;

and founders of many of Chicago’s top consumer companies, including: 

  • Grubhub CEO Matt Maloney, 
  • M1 Finance CEO Brian Barnes, 
  • Kin cofounder and CEO Sean Harper, 
  • Rush Street Interactive CEO Greg Carlin, 
  • Tovala CEO David Rabie, 
  • Clearcover cofounder and CEO Kyle Nakatsuji, 
  • Factor CEO Mike Apostal, and 
  • Sprout Social cofounder Aaron Rankin,

The fund is dedicated to backing companies focused on expanding access to technologies, products, and experiences.

Founded in 2018 by Ezra Galston, the firm’s team also includes Haley Kwait Zollo, Partner, Ade Olonoh, Venture Partner, and Scott Holloway, venture partner. The firm has already led seed investments into Cameo, Made In Cookware, and Unchained Capital.
