India Poker News Acquires Pokershots

India Poker News (IPN), the content and media subsidiary of PokerBaazi.com, acquired Pokershots, a Delhi, India-based poker content platform.

The amount of the deal was not disclosed.

PokerShots offers coverage of news, prize pools, schedules, quality competition, satellite packages and other details while India Poker News provides trending news from across the world of poker, sports, and lifestyle.

With the acquisition, an Indian large portal about poker content will be created. It will feature informational pieces & strategy blogs, tournament updates, offers and deals, and lots more. The teams of Pokershots and IPN are now a part of Baazi and are now undertaking with this merger.

Launched in 2014 by Navkiran Singh, Baazi Games owns a group of companies operating in a variety of online games. Beyond its first gaming product, PokerBaazi.com, India’s leading poker website, the company offers BalleBaazi.com, a cricket fantasy game and RummyBaazi.com, a traditional Indian card game.

Baazi Games has a registered user base of over 8 million and is committed to the growth of online skill gaming industry in India. Ambassadors include Bollywood actress Sunny Leone, olympic medallist boxer Vijender Singh, and ace Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh.

In the global market, the gaming offering remains available (e.g,. have a look at Betsafe poker, among others) and this deal which took place in India followed the $78.25m acquisition of the World Poker Tour®, the business and assets, including its entities, by Element Partners from Allied Esports Entertainment, Inc. (NASDAQ: AESE), a global esports entertainment company.

Launched in 2002 and led by CEO Adam Pliska, World Poker Tour is an internationally televised gaming and entertainment brand with presence in land-based tournaments, television, online, and mobile. Its famous television show is seen worldwide by more than 150 million people annually with events held on five continents. The company, which has awarded more than $1 billion in prize money, also owns ClubWPT.com, an online membership platform that offers inside access to the WPT. WPT initially went public in 2003 and was later purchased by PartyGaming for $12 million and a related revenue share. In 2015, the company was purchased for $35m by Ourgame International Holdings Limited and then acquired by NASDAQ-listed Black Ridge Acquisition Corp. with a value of $50m in 2019 as part of a larger deal that led to the listing of the company as Allied Esports Entertainment.
