Aerial Closes $2M Seed Funding Round

Aerial, a San Francisco, CA-based provider of a sustainable living app, closed a $2M seed funding round.

The round was led by Global Founders Capital with participation from Lachy Groom, Canaan, Climate Capital, Great Oaks VC, TA Ventures, Fourth Realm VC, Whalebone Ventures, Derek Dolin, and Paul Veugen.

The company intends to use the funds to continue to build its engineering team, create short-form climate-focused content, and develop a smart home integration tool.

Created by Andreas Homer, Ari Sawyers, and Ebby Amir, who have helped design and build apps for Google, Apple, Microsoft, and Facebook, as well as startups Sunrise, Acompli, Casper, and Path. Aerial enables users to track their travel-related carbon emissions in real time, discover new ways to reduce their home energy use and save on energy costs.

The company has also used the funding to launch an NFT offset tool that enables users to calculate the carbon emissions of their NFT collections and then instantly offset those emissions through contributions to verified carbon offset and carbon capture projects. The NFT offset tool is also being utilized by NFT artists, such as superstar DJ, Calvin Harris, who used it to offset his March 29, 2021 NFT drop on Nifty Gateway, and famed street artist, Mr. Brainwash, who partnered with Aerial to offset his April 5, 2021 NFT drop on crypto.com.
