Fishbrain, a Stockholm, Sweden-based sport fishing app, social network, and digital marketplace, raised $31M in funding.
Backers included Consensus Småbolagsfond and Adrigo Asset Management, as well as all main existing shareholders, including B Capital Group and SoftBank Ventures Asia.
The company will use the funding to continue to scale its user base, solidify its position in Sweden and Norway, strengthen its engineering, product, marketing, and sales teams at its HQ and product hub in Stockholm, as well as through hiring in the US and throughout Europe.
Led by Johan Attby, CEO and co-founder, Fishbrain is a mobile app, social network, and social commerce platform for fishing. With nearly 12 million registered users across the globe, the app helps create the best possible fishing experience by providing everyone – whether beginner or pro – with the tools, insights, support, and fishing gear to enjoy fishing. The app’s interactive map helps anglers find hot new fishing spots and see what other people are catching, with what bait and specifically where. Fishbrain’s in-app and on-web marketplace, Fishbrain Shop, allows users to find and purchase the best fishing gear from over 300 of the world’s most respected brands. Other features include Fish Species Recognition, marine mapping (provided by C-MAP), forecasts, bait recommendations and more.
