Aiven Raises $100M in Series C Funding

Aiven, a Helsinki, Finland-based software company that combines open source technologies with cloud infrastructure, raised $100M in Series C funding.

The round, which brought total funding to $150M at a valuation of more than $800M, was led by Atomico, with participation from new investors Salesforce Ventures and World Innovation Lab and existing bakers Earlybird Venture Capital and IVP. 

The company intends to use the funds to:

  • to double its headcount over the next year,
  • bring new products to market,
  • develop open source technologies and
  • continue to expand internationally.

Led by Oskari Saarenmaa, CEO and co-founder, Aiven provides managed open source data technologies, like PostgreSQL, Kafka, and M3, on all major clouds. Through the system, developers at companies of all sizes, from innovative startups to global leaders like Comcast, Fiverr, Vidio, Wolt and more, can create applications and manage cloud data infrastructure from different regions in the world in minutes based on their needs with end-to-end security, set-up, maintenance and 24/7 monitoring across all major public cloud platforms. Aiven offers fully-managed services for popular open source projects like Apache Kafka and Cassandra, Elasticsearch, M3 and PostgreSQL in the public cloud. 

The company has offices in Berlin, Sydney, Toronto and Boston.
