Weights and Biases, a San Francisco, CA-based provides a platform for teams to build and collaborate on Machine Learning models and operations, raised $45m in Series B funding.

The round was led by Insight Partners, with participation from Coatue, Trinity Ventures, and Bloomberg Beta. Tom Preston-Werner (founder of Github) invested alongside Insight Partners joining Pieter Abbeel, Nat Friedman, Jeff Hammerbacher, and Richard Socher as individual W&B investors. As part of the round, George Mathew, Managing Director at Insight Partners, joined the Weights and Biases Board of Directors.

The company intends to use the funds to broaden its MLOps mandate and customer base from Experiment Tracking to Dataset Versioning, Model Evaluation, and Pipeline Management, scale up the team hiring for roles in engineering, growth, sales, and customer success.

Founded by Lukas Biewald, Shawn Lewis, and Chris Van Pelt in 2018, Weights and Biases provides Experiment Tracking platform for teams to build and collaborate on Machine Learning (ML) models and operations (MLOps).

First used by forward-thinking ML teams at Open AI, Toyota Research, and Salesforce Research, the company has grown to over 70,000 users at 200+ enterprises and institutions in the past three years.
