DomainTools Receives Strategic Investment from Battery Ventures

DomainTools, a Seattle, WA-based leader in domain name and DNS-based predictive threat intelligence, received an investment from Battery Ventures.

The amount of the deal was not disclosed.

The company intends to use the funds to expand the platform capabilities for machine learning-based threat analytics and predictive risk scoring, along with enhanced product development around automating threat intelligence and incident response workflows.

Led by Tim Chen, CEO, DomainTools empowers security professionals to get ahead of attacks by identifying attacker infrastructure, getting immediate context and visibility on threats, and making faster risk assessments, thereby improving the security posture of their organization. Fortune 1000 companies, global government agencies, and security solution vendors use the the platform for their threat investigation and mitigation work.  

As part of the investment, Jordan Welu, Principal, Battery Ventures, and Battery Private Equity Partner Dave Tabors are joining DomainTools’ board. Andy Rothery, a Battery executive-in-residence, will become executive chairman.
