Cakap, an Indonesian online language learning platform, raised US$3m in Series A+ funding.

The round was led by Heritas Capital with participation from Strategic Year Holdings and existing investors Investidea Ventures and Prasetia Dwidharma.

The company intends to use the funds to recruit people, advance technology development, and expand its business reach across Indonesia and the region following their groeth into the K-12 and vocational up-skilling markets.

Led by Tomy Yunus, co-founder and CEO, Cakap is a language online school that operates through live instruction with native speaking teachers and multimedia learning materials, all provided over the Internet. The company’s approach to language learning combines live instruction with native teachers and multimedia-learning content customized to each learner. It allows students to study from home or the office and to avoid inconvenient scheduling, long commute times, high tuition costs, and outdated books. Rated 4.9 out of 5 on Google Play Store, it is the highest rated language tutoring app in the country.​
