VMWare Acquires SaltStack

Palo Alto, California based VMWare, a division of Dell, a global leader in cloud computing and virtualization software and services, acquired SaltStack, a Lehi, UT-based provider of intelligent IT automation software.

The amount of the deal was not disclosed.

Once closed, the acquisition of SaltStack will allow the company to deliver full-stack automation from infrastructure to applications with the ability to do software configuration inside VMs and containers.

Founded in 2012 and led by Marc Chenn, CEO, SaltStack is a SaaS software company that specializes in network, security, and infrastructure automation and management. Its solution is used by IT and security teams to help businesses more efficiently deploy, protect, and manage all aspects of their digital infrastructure.

VMware provides a software platform that powers complex digital infrastructure. The company’s cloud, app modernization, networking, security, and digital workspace offerings help customers deliver any application on any cloud across any device.
