Robust.AI Raises $15M in Series A Funding

Robust.AI, a Palo Alto, Calif.-based company advancing an industrial grade cognitive engine for robots, closed a $15m Series A funding round.

The round, which brought total funding to-date to $22.5m, was led by Jazz Venture Partners, joined by previous investors Playground Global, Liquid2, Fontinalis, Jaan Tallinn and Mark Leslie. Esther Dyson, Steve Blank and Tim O’Reilly are also angel investors in Robust.ai. In conjunction with the funding, John Spinale, Managing Partner at JAZZ Venture Partners will join Robust.AI’s board of directors.

Co-founded by CEO Gary Marcus, Ph.D., CTO Rodney Brooks, Ph.D., Chief Science Officer Mohamed Amer, Ph.D.,  COO Anthony Jules, as well as Henrik Christensen, Robust.AI is building an industrial grade cognitive engine for robots. Its new cognitively-driven AI platform gives robots the problem-solving capabilities they need to work alongside humans in dynamic, open-ended environments, increasing their potential in complex public spaces.
