MariaDB Raises Further $25M in Series C Funding


MariaDB Corporation, a Redwood City, CA and Helsinki, Finland-based enterprise-grade cloud database solutions, raised $25m as an extension of its Series C funding.

The round, which brought the total funding to over $125m, was led by SmartFin Capital, with participation from existing investors and new investor GP Bullhound.

The company intends to use the funds to expand the reach and development of its cloud database, MariaDB SkySQL.

Led by Michael Howard, CEO, MariaDB provides customers, big and small, with enterprise-grade cloud database solutions to realize the benefits of public and private clouds. It is in every major public cloud, major Linux distribution and through SkySQL. Deutsche Bank, DBS Bank, Nasdaq, Red Hat, ServiceNow, Verizon and Walgreens and more than 75% of the Fortune 500 all run MariaDB.
