Salt Security Raises $20M in Series A Funding

Salt Security, a Palo Alto, Calif.-based API security company, raised $20m in Series A funding.

The round was led by Tenaya Capital with participation from existing investors Haim Sadger and Aya Peterburg, Co-Founders of S Capital, formerly Sequoia, as well as independent investor Marius Nacht, Co-Founder and Chairman of Check Point Software and and strategic investor René Bonvanie, EVP of Strategic Accounts and former CMO at Palo Alto Networks. In conjunction with the funding, Tom Banahan, Partner, Tenaya Capital, joined Salt Security’s board of directors.

The company, which has raised a total of $30m in equity financing, intends to use the funds to continue investing in product development and innovation, address new use cases, and expand sales and marketing.

Founded in 2016 by Roey Eliyahu, CEO, Salt Security provides an API Protection Platform preventing the next generation of API attacks, using behavioral protection. Deployed in minutes, the AI-powered solution automatically and continuously discovers and learns the granular behavior of a company’s APIs that are the core of every SaaS, web, mobile, microservices and IoT application and requires no configuration or customization to help ensure protection. The technology has been integrated into City National Bank, TripActions and Armis, among others.
