Intel Buys Rivet Networks

Intel (Nasdaq: INTC) acquired Rivet Networks, an Indianapolis, IN-, Columbus, OH-, and Chicago, IL-based leader in software and cloud-based technologies for networking connectivity.

The amount of the deal was not disclosed.

Rivet Networks will boost Intel’s Wi-Fi offerings for PC platforms.

Rivet Networks is a provider of cloud-based VoIP, SIP trunking, & Hosted PBX services, which maximize Wi-Fi bandwidth utilization and optimize the wireless network connection on the platform and utilize the combination of Ethernet and Wi-Fi to prioritize traffic over both connections.

The team will join the Wireless Solutions Group within the Client Computing Group at Inter. Rivet Networks’ key products, including the Killer brand, will integrate into Intel’s broader PC Wi-Fi portfolio. With the addition of Rivet Networks’ software, Intel will license its software to customers and develop new solutions for broader PC connectivity enhancement.
