Cockroach Labs Raises $86.6M in Series D Funding

Cockroach Labs, the NYC-based company behind CockroachDB, an enterprise-grade distributed SQL database, raised $86.6m in series D funding.

The round, which brought total funding raised to date to $195m, was co-led by Altimeter Capital and BOND with participation from Benchmark, GV, Index Ventures, Redpoint Ventures, Sequoia Capital and Tiger Capital.

The company intends to use the funds to continue to invest in R&D.

Led by CEO and co-founder Spencer Kimball, Cockroach Labs provides the CockroachDB next-generation SQL database which allows organizations to move and manage critical transactional data in the cloud. The software is used by enterprises in areas including communications, gaming and entertainment, e-commerce and financial services. It is in use at some of the world’s largest enterprises, including Equifax, Bose and Comcast.
