Frontity Raises €1M in Strategic Funding

According to a post, Frontity, a Madrid, Spain-based provider of an open-source framework for developing WordPress themes, raised €1m in strategic funding.

Backers included Automattic, the parent company of WordPress.com and WooCommerce, and venture capital firm K Fund, with participation from with participation from business angels from the Spanish startup ecosystem.

The company intends to use the funds to develop the framework, add new features and build its developer community.

Co-founded by Pablo Postigo and Luis Herranz, Frontity provides an open source and free to use platform to create websites using WordPress and React. 250 developers are currently using it.

The support of Automattic will allow the company to connect and collaborate with partners to support larger projects and bring WordPress and the platform to a wider audience
